Course Details

The ICSE Mathematics syllabus is divided into 7 units or modules: Commercial Mathematics, Algebra, Geometry, Mensuration, Trigonometry, Statistics and Probability. This course covers all the 7 topics in the Algebra Unit: Linear Inequalities, Quadratic Equations in one variable, Ratio and Proportion, Factorisation of polynomials, Matrices, Arithmetic and Geometric Progressions, and Co-ordinate Geometry. The course begins with revision of foundational Algebra concepts that will be important for learning of the core topics of this course. Students with shallow understanding of the foundational concepts will continue to struggle with Class 10 Algebra concepts. With strong understanding and fluency in application of the foundational concepts, students begin to experience joy in learning Algebra. The course is of 8 week duration. Each week will have 3 sessions, each session of 1 hour. Total number of sessions = 8 x 3 sessions = 24 sessions Sessions will be dedicated to deeply understanding new concepts and then applying the understanding of the concepts to problem solving. Instructor will aim to help students build conceptual approach to problem solving as opposed to formula based approach to problem solving. At the end of the course, if the instructor judges that more practice or revision sessions are needed, 3 extra sessions will be conducted. These 3 extra classes will be free of charge.
